Antalya enjoys around 300 sunny days a year, which makes it one of Turkey’s most appealing year-round destinations. But not every month is equal — here’s an honest look at what each season offers so you can pick the best time for your trip.
Best Months Overall: April, May, September, October
If you want sunshine without extreme heat and manageable crowds, May and September–October are the sweet spots.
April brings mild temperatures (around 18–21°C), wildflowers in bloom, and almost no queues at ancient sites like [Perge] and [Termessos] The sea is still cool for swimming but perfect for everything else.
May is many visitors’ favourite month. Temperatures reach around 25°C, locals start swimming at [Konyaaltı Beach](INTERNAL LINK: /konyaalti-beach), boat cruises leave the marina daily, and the Antalya International Theater Festival and the Sandland Sand Sculpture Festival on [Lara Beach](INTERNAL LINK: /lara-beach) both take place this month.
September is excellent: summer heat has eased, the sea is at its warmest (around 27–28°C), and crowds thin out after August. The Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival runs in September and is a remarkable experience in a 2,000-year-old theatre.
October is a hidden gem. Temperatures sit comfortably around 23°C, everything is open, and crowds are the thinnest of the tourist season. A great month for sightseeing and beach days combined.
Summer (June–August): Great for Beaches, Hot for Sightseeing
Peak season in Antalya. July and August see barely any rain and maximum sunshine — ideal if your trip is mainly beach-focused. However, midday temperatures regularly exceed 35°C, which makes exploring ancient ruins or the Kaleiçi Old Town uncomfortable between 11am and 4pm. Book accommodation well in advance, especially for [Lara Beach](INTERNAL LINK: /lara-beach) hotels.

Winter (December–February): Quiet but Rainy
Antalya in winter is warm compared to most of Europe (10–18°C during the day), and almost completely empty of tourists. You’ll have ancient sites to yourself.
January is the rainiest month in Antalya, with average precipitation of around 240mm. Rain is unpredictable — sunny mornings can turn stormy quickly. December and February are also significantly wetter than the rest of the year.
That said, winter isn’t all rain. Antalya’s position between the Taurus Mountains and the sea means many days are clear and mild. The Saklikent ski resort, only about 45km from the city, is accessible from December to April — a genuinely unusual combination of beach city and ski destination.
The Rainiest Month in Antalya
January is definitively the wettest month, with around 240mm of rainfall on average. December is the second wettest. From June through August, rainfall is almost nonexistent — July is typically the driest month of the year, with less than 5mm recorded.
