Scenic coastal view of Antalya, Turkey with mountains and turquoise sea

4 Days in Antalya: The Perfect Itinerary for History, Nature & the Mediterranean (2026)

Few cities let you walk through a Roman theatre in the morning, swim under a waterfall by lunch, and watch the sun drop into the Mediterranean by evening. Antalya is one of them. If you want history, nature and beach time in one trip without rushing through any of it, four days is the sweet spot. Here’s a day-by-day route that takes you from the cobbled lanes of Kaleİçi to the pine-covered slopes of the Taurus Mountains.

📝 A Local’s Note

This route mixes genuinely active days (ruins on foot, then rafting and a jeep safari) with slower ones (beach, boat, cable car) on purpose. If your energy levels don’t match ours, swap Day 3 and Day 4 around, nothing here has to happen in this exact order.

Midday sun (roughly 12–4pm) at the ancient sites is brutal in July and August. Where you can, push the ruins to early morning and save the beach and boat stops for the hottest hours.

🔵 BEFORE YOU GO: A FEW PRACTICAL BASICS

A handful of details worth sorting out before you land:

  • Best time to go: Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) give you warm-but-not-brutal weather with great conditions for both sightseeing and swimming. Our month-by-month guide to visiting Antalya breaks down what to expect in each season.
  • Getting in from the airport: Havaş buses and taxis are both easy options, with very different price tags. We’ve compared every route and cost in our Antalya transfers guide.
  • Where to stay: Kaleİçi’s boutique hotels suit anyone chasing atmosphere and history; Lara’s resorts suit anyone who wants an all-inclusive beach base. See our picks for boutique hotels in Kaleİçi and hotels on Lara Beach, or start with the full where to stay in Antalya area guide.
  • Getting around the city: An AntalyaKart works on the tram, buses and dolmuşes and makes getting around cheap and simple. Our public transport guide covers where to buy and top it up.

🔵 DAY 1: KALEİÇİ’S OLD TOWN AND THE CITY BEACHES

Spend your first day in the heart of the city. Kaleİçi’s restored Ottoman houses, now boutique hotels and cafes, make an easy backdrop for a slow first breakfast. Walk under Hadrian’s Gate (Üçkapılar), then wander past the Clock Tower and the fluted Yivli Minaret, three landmarks that condense the city’s layered history into a few hundred metres. For a stop-by-stop route through the neighbourhood, our Kaleİçi walking guide lays out exactly where to go.

In the afternoon, take a clifftop walk through Karaalioğlu Park for sea views, snap a photo of the historic Hıdırlık Tower, and, if ruins and artefacts interest you, spend an hour at the Antalya Museum, which brings together Lycian, Roman and Ottoman finds from across the region. Wind the day down at Konyaaltı Beach, where turquoise water meets a backdrop of the Beydağları mountains. Our Konyaaltı Beach guide covers which stretch suits families and which is better for a sunset swim.

As the light starts to soften, ride the Tünektepe Cable Car up for a panoramic view over the city and coastline, one of the more memorable ways to close out a first day; check current opening status and ticket prices in our Tünektepe guide. For dinner, pick one of Kaleİçi’s harbour-view restaurants for fresh fish or grilled meat.

🔵 DAY 2: ANCIENT CITIES AND THE DÜDEN WATERFALLS

Antalya’s real depth is just outside the city. About 30 minutes from the centre, Perge’s ruins include a colossal stadium, a colonnaded street and the remains of Roman baths; our Perge guide covers what to expect before you go. From there, head to the Aspendos Theatre, still acoustically good enough to host concerts today, and one of the best-preserved Roman theatres anywhere. Our Aspendos Theatre guide has ticket prices and the best times to visit.

Spend the afternoon back in nature: cool off in the cave passages behind Upper Düden Waterfall, then move on to Lower Düden, where the water drops straight off the cliffs into the sea. Our Düden Waterfalls guide covers both falls and how long to spend at each, and our Düden vs Kurşunlu comparison is worth a look if you’re weighing up which waterfall deserves your time. You can also see Lower Düden from the water on a roughly one-hour boat trip departing the harbour; our best boat tours guide lists reliable operators and price ranges.

Close the day with an easy stroll around Antalya’s marina, watching the yachts come in. If a private boat sounds appealing for another day of your trip, our private boat rental and yacht charter guide covers pricing and what to expect. For dinner, a harbour-view terrace serving modern Mediterranean food is a solid way to end the night.

🔵 DAY 3: ADVENTURE IN THE TAURUS MOUNTAINS

Dedicate day three to the foothills of the Taurus Mountains. Start with a jeep safari through mountain villages, with swim stops in the river along the way; if you’re torn between a jeep and a quad tour, our jeep safari vs quad bike comparison should settle it. Follow that with a short walk through Tazı Canyon, carved by the Köprüçay River, our Köprülü Canyon guide covers rafting, the historic Roman bridge, and hiking routes across the whole area.

After lunch by the river, grilled trout is the local go-to, head into Köprülü Canyon National Park for a guided white-water rafting run; our rafting guide breaks down the routes, difficulty levels and what to watch out for. Finish the day with the Olympos (Tahtalı) Cable Car, which climbs to 2,365 metres for a bird’s-eye view of the Mediterranean and a genuinely good spot to catch the sunset; ticket prices and practical tips are in our Olympos Cable Car guide.

For dinner, a marina-view seafood restaurant is a good pick, or squeeze in one last golden-hour stop at a beach club on your way back into the city; we’ve compared which club suits which kind of day in our beach clubs guide.

🔵 DAY 4: PHASELIS, GÖYNÜK CANYON AND KEMER

On your last day, head west toward Kemer. About 45 minutes from the city, the ancient city of Phaselis sits on a pine-covered peninsula; walk the old theatre and aqueducts, then cool off in one of the three quiet coves right next to the ruins. It’s a rare combination of history and scenery, and our Phaselis guide is worth reading before you visit. If you’ve still got energy to spare, Göynük Canyon Adventure Park, all cool streams and greenery, has ziplining and canyon crossings if you want one more adrenaline stop.

In the afternoon, move on to Kemer itself. After a coffee with a view of Tahtalı Mountain, spend your last swim of the trip at Moonlight Beach, a Blue Flag stretch known for soft sand and clear water. For more ideas on what else to fit in, see our things to do in Kemer guide, and if you’re considering basing yourself here instead, our best hotels in Kemer picks are a good starting point.

Close out the trip with a proper Turkish barbecue: lamb and chicken şiş at one of Kemer’s well-loved local grill houses. If you haven’t worked through Antalya’s food scene yet, our Antalya food guide rounds up 15 dishes worth trying. Finish with a slow evening walk around Kemer Marina among the yachts, and one last Turkish coffee, a calm way to end four packed days.

🔵 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is 4 days enough for Antalya?

Yes. Four days comfortably covers Kaleİçi, the main ancient cities, one nature-and-adventure day, and at least one beach day. If you have longer, see our 7-day Antalya itinerary; for a shorter trip, our 3-day itinerary trims it down further.

Do I need to rent a car for this route?

No. The tram and buses handle the city, and organised tours or taxis cover everything outside it, this entire itinerary works without a rental car. If you’re weighing tours against going it alone, our tour price guides are a useful reference point.

What kind of budget should I plan for?

Outside accommodation, budgeting roughly $60–120 per person per day covers entry fees, tours, meals and local transport comfortably, without cutting corners. Check the linked guides above for current pricing on individual tours and activities.

Can I reorder the days?

Absolutely. This route balances active and slower days on purpose, but weather, tour availability or your own energy levels are all good reasons to swap things around, if the sea looks perfect, move the beach day earlier and save the ruins for a cooler day.

🔵 THE VERDICT

Four days is genuinely enough time to get a real feel for Antalya’s history, nature and coastline, not just a surface pass. From Kaleİçi’s stone streets to Aspendos’s ancient stage, from the rushing water of Köprülü Canyon to the quiet coves of Phaselis, this route lets you experience the region in layers rather than at a sprint. Adjust the details to your own pace where you need to, the best itinerary is the one that leaves you satisfied, not exhausted.
