Many travellers also recommend Konyaaltı over Lara if you prefer walking to restaurants and exploring the city instead of staying inside a large resort.

1. Expecting a Sandy Beach

One of the biggest surprises for first-time visitors is that Konyaaltı Beach is a pebble beach, not a sandy one.

Many people assume Antalya is only a summer destination.

In reality, April, May, October and even November are excellent months to stay in Konyaaltı. The weather is pleasant, the promenade is lively, and popular attractions are generally less crowded than during the peak summer season.

One of the best things about staying in Konyaaltı is how easy it is to explore Antalya without renting a car.

The Nostalji Tram connects the Konyaaltı Beach Park area with Kaleiçi, while the wider tram network provides access to other parts of the city. Public transport is affordable and convenient for sightseeing.

One of the biggest advantages of staying in Konyaaltı is that many of Antalya’s top attractions are just a short walk, tram ride or taxi journey away.

Antalya Aquarium

One of the largest aquarium complexes in Europe, featuring themed exhibits, a long underwater tunnel and family-friendly attractions.

Distance: Around 5 minutes by car from central Konyaaltı.

If you’re visiting Antalya for the first time and want to experience more than an all-inclusive resort, Konyaaltı is the area I recommend most often.

You can spend the morning swimming in the Mediterranean, enjoy lunch at a seafront café, visit a world-class museum in the afternoon and finish the day watching the sunset from Kaleiçi Marina. Few destinations combine beach, culture and city life as effortlessly as Konyaaltı.
