Antalya Airport sits just 13 km from the city centre, but how you cover those 13 kilometres will shape the first hour of your holiday, and your budget. There are four realistic options: the AntRay tram, the public bus, a metered taxi, and a pre-booked private transfer. Each costs wildly different amounts. This is what locals use, and it is remarkable value: roughly 35 TL with an AntalyaKart travel card. The tram leaves from the airport and reaches the centre in 30 to 45 minutes, with İsmetpaşa the stop for Kaleiçi old town.

Two things catch visitors out. First, cash is not accepted on board, you need an AntalyaKart, bought from machines at the stop, and it then covers buses and trams for the rest of your stay. Second, the tram stops running around 23:00. Late flight? This option disappears.

It is superb if you travel light and stay centrally. It is miserable with three suitcases and two tired children.

The bus 600 runs from the airport for around 42 TL, again AntalyaKart only, no cash, and takes about an hour to the main bus terminal. There is also the Havaş shuttle at roughly 220 TL, which takes 40 to 50 minutes and has proper luggage storage underneath, useful if the AntalyaKart faff puts you off.

Buses are cheap and perfectly comfortable. They are simply slow, and you carry your own bags at both ends.

Yellow taxis wait outside arrivals around the clock and reach the centre in 20 to 30 minutes. Expect roughly 600 to 800 TL on the meter to the city centre or Lara.

Antalya applies a night tariff between midnight and 06:00, adding around 50 percent to the daytime fare. Nobody tells arriving passengers this, and it produces most of the “I was ripped off” stories you read online.

Always insist the meter is running before the car moves. Decline any flat cash price offered before you set off. There is an official fare board at the taxi rank, use it to sanity-check any figure a driver mentions. And never accept a ride from someone approaching you inside the arrivals hall; official taxis wait at the rank outside.

A pre-booked private transfer costs from around €23 to €45, fixed, per vehicle rather than per person. A driver waits in arrivals holding your name, helps with luggage, and takes you to your hotel door.

Here is where it genuinely wins:

Night arrivals. The tram has stopped, the taxi meter has jumped 50 percent, and you are tired. A fixed price already agreed removes all of it.

Three or four people with luggage. Split between a family, the per-person cost often falls below a taxi, and comfortably below four separate tram tickets in convenience terms.

Resort hotels. For Belek, Side, Kemer, or Alanya, a metered taxi becomes genuinely expensive, while a fixed transfer price is known before you fly.

Kaleiçi hotels. The old town is a maze of pedestrian lanes. A transfer driver knows which gate to drop you at; a taxi may leave you and your suitcase at the wrong end of a cobbled hill.
