Antalya to Marmaris: Bus, Driving & Private Transfer Guide

Quick answer

From central Antalya to central Marmaris, a route planner gives about 320 km on the fastest road, which heads inland via Korkuteli, and about 410 km if you follow the coast via Kaş. The inland route takes about 4.5 hours of driving (route-planner estimate, excluding stops; actual journey times vary). You can go by long-distance bus from Antalya Otogarı, drive yourself, or book a private transfer. Bus times, prices and whether a service is direct change by date, so check them for your own travel day using the steps below. Marmaris has no airport, so there is no direct flight.

This guide is about getting between Antalya and Marmaris. If you’re still deciding which of the two to base your holiday in, read our comparison Marmaris vs Antalya first. Here we compare the bus, driving yourself and a private transfer, explain why it matters whether you start from the city centre, the bus station or the airport, and flag what changes in the opposite direction.

Antalya to Marmaris by Bus

Long-distance coaches between the two cities use the bus stations: Antalya Otogarı on the Antalya side and Marmaris Otogarı on the Marmaris side. Neither is in the old town or at an airport, so add the time to reach the bus station at the start and to get to your hotel at the end.

Departures, prices, journey times and the companies running the route change by date and season, and the booking sites we looked at did not agree with each other. So rather than give a timetable that may be wrong for your trip, here is how to check it yourself:

  1. Search your exact date and direction. Search “Antalya” to “Marmaris” (or the reverse) for the day you travel, either on a bus company’s own website or app, or on a booking platform such as Obilet’s Antalya–Marmaris page or Enuygun’s Antalya–Marmaris page. These are booking platforms that list several bus companies; what they show depends on the date you search, and listings can change. The results for one day or one direction don’t tell you about another.
  2. Check the departure and arrival points. Confirm the ticket leaves from Antalya Otogarı and ends at Marmaris Otogarı, not at a junction or a nearby town.
  3. Check whether it is direct. Look at the route details and the arrival time. If it isn’t clear whether you change bus on the way, ask the bus company before you pay.
  4. Compare the total journey time. A departure-to-arrival time that looks unusually short or long for this distance is worth double-checking with the company.
  5. Book ahead in busy periods. Online booking usually asks for your name and an ID or passport number. You can also buy at the company desks inside the bus station, but seats on a particular departure may sell out.

Getting to Antalya Otogarı: plan this leg before the day. A taxi is the simplest option with luggage; see are taxis expensive in Antalya? If you use city buses or the tram, remember Antalya’s public transport doesn’t take cash on board; our AntalyaKart guide explains how to pay.

Antalya to Marmaris by Car

Driving gives you the most freedom. From Antalya city centre, the fastest road in our route check heads inland towards Korkuteli and crosses higher ground before dropping towards the Fethiye and Dalaman area and on to Marmaris. The coast road via Kaş is about 90 km longer and slower, but passes some of the region’s best scenery, so it makes more sense as a two-day trip with an overnight stop than as a single drive.

  • Use a navigation app on the day. It will choose between routes based on live traffic and roadworks.
  • Plan at least one break. On a drive of this length, stop for fuel, food and rest.
  • Check the weather in winter. The inland route crosses higher ground, where rain, fog or snow can slow you down in the colder months.
  • Check one-way car hire fees. Picking up in Antalya and dropping off in Marmaris or at Dalaman Airport may cost extra. Ask before you compare prices.
  • Arrive in daylight if you can. Mountain roads and unfamiliar town traffic are easier in daylight. Check the sunset time for your travel date before you set off.

Private Transfer from Antalya to Marmaris

A private transfer is a car or minivan with a driver, booked for your group only, from your pickup address to your accommodation. The time on the road is similar to driving yourself, but someone else does the driving, and you don’t have to change vehicles at bus stations or move your luggage between them. It is worth comparing if you are:

  • travelling with young children or need child seats,
  • a group, where one vehicle price may compare well with several bus tickets plus taxis at both ends,
  • carrying heavy or bulky luggage,
  • landing at Antalya Airport and wanting to go straight to Marmaris.

What to include when you ask for a quote: the date and preferred time, your exact pickup point (or flight number if you’re starting at the airport), your Marmaris address, the number of adults and children with ages, any child seats, and the number of suitcases or large items. Ask what the price covers: whether it is per vehicle, whether tolls and waiting time are included, and whether a stop on the way is possible.

City Centre, Bus Station or Airport? Know Your Starting Point

“Antalya” can mean three different starting points, and each changes your plan:

  • Antalya city centre and Kaleiçi. Where most city hotels are. If you drive or take a transfer, you can leave from here. If you take the bus, you first need to get to the bus station.
  • Antalya Otogarı (bus station). Where long-distance coaches leave from. It is a separate journey from both the city centre and the airport.
  • Antalya Airport (AYT). East of the city. By road, the route from the airport to Marmaris town centre is about 330 km in our check. By bus, you would first cross the city to the bus station. See our Antalya Airport arrivals guide.

If you haven’t booked flights yet, also look at Dalaman Airport (DLM), the usual airport for Marmaris. Whether it works for you depends on flights from your home airport.

Marmaris to Antalya: What’s Different in Reverse

  • Catching a flight. If you’re travelling to Antalya Airport to fly home, build in a generous margin or travel the day before. A bus ends at Antalya Otogarı, so you would still need to cross the city to the airport.
  • Search the reverse direction separately. Bus departures from Marmaris are not a mirror image of those from Antalya. Check Marmaris to Antalya for your own date, for example on Obilet or Enuygun, or with the bus company.
  • Plan the last leg. Buses arrive at Antalya Otogarı, not in Kaleiçi, Lara or Konyaaltı. Arrange how you’ll reach your hotel, especially for an evening arrival.

Which Option Should You Choose?

Travelling with children: a private transfer or your own car lets you stop when you need to and avoids changing vehicles at the bus stations. If you take the bus, choose a daytime departure and check the route details for any change of bus.

Lots of luggage: every change of vehicle (taxi to the bus station, bus, taxi to the hotel) means lifting your bags again. With several large cases, door-to-door transport saves the most effort.

Arriving at night: avoid relying on a late bus connection after a flight. Either stay a night in Antalya and travel the next day, or arrange door-to-door transport before you land.

Budget and light luggage: the bus is usually the lowest-cost choice per person. Compare the ticket with the taxi or public transport costs at each end, and pick a departure that gets you to Marmaris in daylight.
