🔵 THE SHORT ANSWER
Parts of Antalya are wonderfully walkable, and parts are not. The historic centre, Kaleiçi old town, the marina, and the seafront promenades are a joy to explore on foot. But Antalya is a large, spread-out city, so getting between distant areas (like Lara, Konyaaltı, and the centre) is too far to walk and better done by tram, bus, or taxi.
📝 A Local’s Note
Kaleiçi’s charm hides a real hazard for anyone with limited mobility or wheeled luggage. Some of the old town’s stone paths were laid centuries before wheelchairs or suitcases existed, and a few narrow lanes get genuinely uneven where the stone has worn or shifted. If mobility is a concern, stick to the main routes near the harbour and Hadrian’s Gate rather than the smaller side streets.
The seafront promenade at Konyaaltı is flat and paved the whole way, which makes it the easiest long walk in the city if you want distance without hills or cobbles, a good option on a day when Kaleiçi’s slopes feel like too much.
🔵 WHERE WALKING SHINES
Kaleiçi’s cobbled lanes are made for wandering, and the clifftop parks and Konyaaltı and Lara promenades are lovely for a stroll. Within these areas, walking is the best way to soak up the atmosphere. Just wear comfortable shoes, as the old town is hilly and cobbled, and plan to hop on the cheap tram for longer distances across the city.
