The undisputed star is Kaş, widely regarded as the finest dive base in Turkey, with more than 30 sites, superb visibility, wrecks, walls, and underwater archaeology close to the harbour. Around Kemer and Tekirova you will find accessible reefs and caves popular with resorts, ideal for first-timers and day trips. Diving is also run from Antalya city and the eastern resorts, though the Kaş coast is the connoisseur’s choice.
🔵 WHAT YOU WILL SEE
Expect excellent visibility, often 25 to 40 metres, and warm summer seas. Underwater you may meet groupers, barracuda, moray eels, colourful nudibranchs, and sea turtles, with the occasional Mediterranean monk seal in the Kaş area. There are wrecks including a sunken WWII aircraft, dramatic walls and canyons, caves, and fields of ancient amphorae, a reminder that these waters have been sailed for thousands of years.
🔵 FOR BEGINNERS
You do not need any experience to start. Dive centres across the region offer a Discover Scuba Diving session, where an instructor guides you on your first supervised dive in shallow, calm water, as well as full PADI courses if you want to get certified. Snorkellers can also join many boats. It is a gentle, welcoming place to try diving for the first time.
🔵 SEASON AND TIPS
The main season runs from around April to October, with the warmest water and best conditions from May to June and September to October. Choose a properly certified, well-reviewed dive centre rather than the cheapest option, bring your certification card if you have one, and only book deep or technical dives if you are qualified. Stay hydrated and avoid flying within 24 hours of diving.
