What Is Tandem Paragliding?

Tandem paragliding means you fly with a certified professional pilot who handles everything — takeoff, navigation, steering, and landing. You sit comfortably in a harness in front of the pilot, who manages the wing and controls the flight. Your only job is to run a few steps during takeoff and enjoy the view for the next 15–30 minutes.

No training required. No prior experience needed. No special fitness level. The minimum age at most operators is 18, and there’s usually a weight limit of around 100–110 kg. Beyond that, almost anyone can do it.

Best Paragliding Spots Near Antalya

🏆 Alanya — Best Views, Most Popular

Distance from Antalya: ~130 km (1.5–2 hours)

Alanya is the premier paragliding destination in the Antalya region. The launch point at Yassı Tepe sits high in the Taurus Mountains, giving you a spectacular combination of altitude and coastal scenery. The flight descends over Cleopatra Beach, the iconic Alanya Castle headland, and the turquoise bay — one of the most photogenic flight paths in Turkey.

The views from above are extraordinary: the peninsula with the castle from above, both bays stretching out on either side, the deep blue Mediterranean, and the mountains behind. Photographs genuinely don’t do it justice.

Best for: Maximum scenery and the most memorable flight experience.

🌲 Kemer — Nature-Focused, More Peaceful

Distance from Antalya: ~45 km (45 minutes)

Kemer’s paragliding launches from the Taurus Mountains above the pine forests and hidden bays of the Kemer coastline. The views are different from Alanya — less dramatic coastal panorama, more forest, mountain, and sea combined. A quieter, more peaceful experience than the busier Alanya operation.

Best for: Those wanting a more intimate experience, or those staying in Kemer who don’t want to travel to Alanya.

🌅 Antalya City Area

Some operators offer paragliding directly from the Taurus Mountains above Antalya city — launching above the Olympos area or the mountains behind Konyaaltı. Views include the city, the bay, and the coastline stretching both east and west.

How Much Does Paragliding Cost?

Package Price Per Person Includes
Standard tandem flight€80–€100Transfer, pilot, equipment, flight
Flight + photo package€100–€120Everything above + photos/video
Premium/extended flight€120–€150Longer airtime, premium pilot, full media

Our recommendation: Always add the photo/video package. You’re in the air for 15–30 minutes and won’t be able to hold a phone or camera — the operator’s footage is the only record you’ll have. It’s worth every lira.

What Happens on the Day

Transfer: Pickup from your hotel in the morning. Drive to the launch point — the journey into the mountains is itself scenic.

Briefing: The pilot explains exactly what will happen during takeoff, flight, and landing. Very simple — run a few steps, sit back, enjoy. The whole briefing takes about 10 minutes.

Takeoff: You and your pilot run together down a short slope. The wing catches the air and you’re off the ground almost immediately. The transition from running to floating is the most surprising and memorable part of the experience.

The flight: 15–30 minutes depending on thermals and conditions. Your pilot may do gentle turns and manoeuvres — or if you want more adrenaline, you can ask for steeper turns and spirals. Most people just want to look at the view.

Landing: A smooth, gradual descent back to the beach or a designated landing area. No running on landing — you simply sit down.

Is Paragliding Safe?

Paragliding with certified tandem pilots is very safe. Turkish operators are required to be licensed, and equipment is regularly inspected. The pilot monitors weather conditions constantly and will not fly if conditions are not safe — cancellations do happen on windy or stormy days, and reputable operators offer rescheduling or full refunds in these cases.

Book with a reputable, reviewed operator — choose companies with a significant number of Viator reviews and high ratings. Don’t book through random street touts.

Medical conditions: Pregnant women should not paraglide. Those with heart conditions, serious back or neck problems, or epilepsy should consult a doctor first.

What to Wear and Bring

Wear:

  • Comfortable clothes — not too loose (avoid scarves or anything that can catch wind)
  • Closed-toe shoes — trainers or sneakers
  • Sunglasses

Bring:

  • Sunscreen
  • Small amount of cash for photo package if not pre-booked
  • Nothing else — leave bags and valuables at the hotel or in the transfer vehicle

Don’t bring: Expensive cameras or phones to hold during the flight — you won’t be able to use them. The operator’s video will be far better anyway.
